Recently, GN-Power is pleased to share exciting news. The tailor-made VFD energy-saving system we developed for a 206,000 DWT bulk carrier owned by a renowned shipowner has passed stringent verification. Its energy-saving performance exceeds expectations, successfully fulfilling all targets under the performance commitment agreement.

The vessel involved in this cooperation is a seasoned veteran: a 206,000 DWT bulk carrier with a relatively advanced age. As IMO environmental regulations grow increasingly stringent, the shipowner retrofitted the vessel with a scrubber system. Nevertheless, new challenges soon emerged. Operation of the scrubber system consumes substantial additional electrical power, forcing the vessel to run an extra generator.
